Sydney Opera House

An opera on the sea.
For some, the Sydney Opera House in Sydney Harbour resembles shells, to others, it looks like sailing boats. This original building was designed by a Danish architect, Jørn Utzon. Opened in 1973 by Queen Elizabeth II, it was listed as UNESCO World Heritage site in 2007. More than just an concert hall and auditorium, it has now become a tourist hot spot and the legendary symbol of the city which is recognised all around the world.
